|New Orleans will buy out World Trade Center lease|
(From The Times-Picayune) The City of New Orleans has closed on a purchase agreement to buy out the lease of the 33-story World Trade Center building at the foot of Canal Street, Mayor Mitch Landrieu's office said Wednesday. The $2.3 million deal between the city and the World Trade Center organization gives the city full operational control over potential redevelopment of the vacant 670,000-square-foot office tower and its site.
