The Planning Commission is set to consider a variety of projects this afternoon, including requests to rezone a spot on Government Street and the former Barcadia on Highland Road for bar use.

After deferring the item in August, the Planning Commission will consider a long-vacant building on Government Street for bar use this afternoon. The property, near Elsie’s Plate and Pie, is next door to another bar under development by Joshua Duke, the owner of Olive or Twist.

Amy Comeaux with Ritter Maher Architects previously told Daily Report that owner Olga Roquemore, of Baton Rouge, wouldn’t disclose her plans for the property until after garnering commission approval.

A planned 62-lot residential development for a hot spot near the LSU campus is also up for consideration after being deferred in August. To be known as Creekside Cottages, the semi-detached houses are planned to be built near the corner of Ben Hur Road and Nicholson Drive.

 Also on the agenda:

  • The owners of the building that formerly housed Barcadia, the recently-shuttered arcade bar near LSU on Highland Road, are asking for the property to be zoned for bar and lounge use. The property has been operating under two separate zoning labels.
  • RV Shop owner Gerald Vince is asking the commission to approve the final plans for a new sales and service center at the Greens at Millerville.

A request for the Lakes at Legacy development, a controversial subdivision planned for the former Sherwood Forest Country Club Golf Course, is being deferred until November.

Also being deferred are plans for the third phase of the Elysian, the mixed-income, multifamily complex in east downtown. The plans are now slated to be considered in October and will consist of 42-units in a three-story building.

The Planning and Zoning Commission meets at 5 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 222 St. Louis St. See the full agenda.
