Best Places to Work

Business Report’s Best Places to Work recognizes Capital Region employers that excel at creating workplaces where people can succeed, contribute and grow.

Unlike nomination- or voting-based programs, Best Places to Work uses an independent, research-driven evaluation administered by Workforce Research Group—combining an employer assessment of workplace policies and practices with confidential employee feedback to determine honorees.

Participation also gives employers valuable insight into their own workplace, including strengths, areas for improvement and how employees experience the organization.

Winning organizations are featured in a special edition of Business Report and celebrated at the annual Best Places to Work event.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Best Places to Work?

It is Business Report’s annual recognition of outstanding Capital Region workplaces, based on independent employer and employee research administered by Workforce Research Group.

Is Best Places to Work a nomination program?

No. Organizations apply to participate through Workforce Research Group, the independent research firm that administers the Best Places to Work evaluation process.

Who is eligible?

Publicly or privately held companies, nonprofits and government organizations may participate if they have a physical operation in the nine-parish Baton Rouge region, at least 15 full- or part-time employees working locally and at least one year in business by the registration deadline.

How are organizations evaluated?

Workforce Research Group administers a two-part process consisting of an employer assessment and a confidential employee survey. The employer portion examines workplace policies and practices, while the employee survey measures how employees experience the organization.

Are employee responses confidential?

Yes. Employee feedback is collected confidentially by Workforce Research Group as part of the independent evaluation process.

Can participating companies see what their employees think?

Yes. One of the benefits of participating is the opportunity to receive comprehensive feedback from employees. That information can help employers identify workplace strengths, understand areas that may need attention and gain insight into how employees perceive their organization.

Do we have to make the Best Places to Work list to benefit from participating?

No. The employee-feedback process can provide useful workplace insights regardless of whether an organization ultimately makes the list.

Does it cost anything to participate?

Online participation is free. Employers choosing paper employee surveys pay a fee based on organization size. Additional detailed employee-feedback reporting may also be available for purchase through Workforce Research Group.

Does advertising or sponsorship affect the rankings?

No. Workforce Research Group independently administers the research and determines the results. Advertising or sponsorship does not affect an organization’s ranking.

What happens if our company makes the list?

Winning employers are featured in a special edition of Business Report and honored at the annual Best Places to Work celebration.

What happens if our company does not make the list?

Organizations that do not make the Best Places to Work list are not publicly identified.

When is the event held?

The annual celebration is traditionally held in the fall.

Where are the rankings published?

Winning organizations are featured in a special edition of Business Report.

What should I wear?

Business or business-casual attire is appropriate.

Are sponsorship opportunities available?

Yes.
