The Hornets, who relocated from Charlotte before the 2002-03 season, rank behind the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons and ahead of the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs. Meanwhile, Hornets guard Chris Paul ranks fourth among players, behind Kobe Bryant of the Lakers, Kevin Garnett of the Celtics and LeBron James of the Cavaliers and ahead of Allen Iverson of the Pistons, Pau Gasol of the Lakers, Paul Pierce of the Celtics, Dwyane Wade of the Celtics, Derrick Rose of the Bulls and Nate Robinson of the Knicks.
Cool Brees: Drew Brees, the New Orleans Saints quarterback, has been named the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Year. Brees, who nearly set an NFL record for passing yards in a season and lead the league in pass attempts and completions, was selected for the honor by fan vote. Adrian Peterson, the Minnesota Vikings running back, was named FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Year. FedEx will make $25,000 donations to Safe Kids USA coalitions in New Orleans and Minneapolis in honor of Brees and Peterson.
