The owners of Tin Roof Brewery and Acme Food & Beverage Co., a Carrboro, North Carolina-based restaurant, are teaming up to open the planned brewery and neighborhood restaurant in Raleigh, North Carolina, the two companies announced today.
While the brewery has been in the works for more than a year, today’s announcement marks the first mention of its name—Heyday Brewing—as well as the Acme owner’s involvement with the concept, which is slated to open in early 2020.
It will be located within the under-construction City Farm section of 5401 North, a 400-acre traditional neighborhood development in northeast Raleigh that’s being developed by Commercial Properties Realty Trust, the real estate arm of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
“We’ve been working on this project for a long time and I’m incredibly excited to see it come together now,” says William McGehee, founder of Tin Roof Brewery, in a prepared statement.
The Baton Rouge-based brewery and CPRT have inked a memorandum of understanding with Wake Tech Community College, wherein Heyday will provide students in Wake Tech’s craft beer classes access to commercial brewing equipment as well as classroom and lab space. The restaurant will also serve produce grown in 5401 North’s Purple Martin Community Farm.
Meanwhile, Acme chef Kevin Callaghan plans to incorporate into Heyday’s menu the “seasonal rhythms and flavors of his Carolina childhood” and “use fresh local ingredients to create Southern American dishes in a relaxed, professional setting,” according to a news release.
