Editor’s note: This story and its headline have been updated since original publication to reflect that The Vintage will not be opening on Thursday and does not yet have an exact opening date. Daily Report received incorrect information from the Downtown Development District regarding the restaurant.
The Vintage—a New Orleans-based food concept that is opening in the former Magpie Cafe in downtown Baton Rouge—will hold a private training session open to certain invited guests on Thursday as it prepares to open in the coming weeks.
The concept—being launched by the same group that operated Provisions on Perkins until late last year—will feature craft coffee, beignets and cocktails. The group’s first location of the concept opened on Magazine Street in New Orleans in 2018.
Plans for The Vintage were first announced in September, with the restaurant then expected to open last fall, but rumors that the project had fallen through began circulating in mid-November after owners OnePack Hospitality Group closed the Provisions on Perkins in The Acadian Village Shopping Center. Those rumors were disputed by Bradley Charlesworth, marketing and communications director for property manager Key Real Estate Company.
In January, the restaurant’s application for an alcoholic beverage permit was posted, and last month, Charlesworth told Daily Report that the eatery was expecting to open sometime in Q1. Earlier this week, he deferred comment regarding an update to Bernhard Stolberg, OnePack’s Principal and COO, who has not responded to requests for a comment.
Downtown Development District Executive Director Davis Rhorer announced the planned opening at the DDD’s Board of Directors meeting this morning.
