White Star Market’s newest vendor The Rutledge—spearheaded by Scott Higgins and Jenn Breithauptl—will open on June 10.
As part of a two-phase roll out, The Rutledge will serve only breakfast and lunch for two weeks, Higgins says, and then launch a dinner menu on June 25.
The minds behind The Rutledge are no strangers to White Star. Higgins is also the managing partner of Mouton bar at the food hall and owner of 3Tails Wine & Cheese—a retail concept opening next door to White Star in mid-June. Breithaupt, meanwhile, formerly worked at Gov’t Taco, another vendor at the Mid City food hall.
Breithaupt will be The Rutledge’s executive chef in charge of developing the menu, which she has experience in from her time with Gov’t Taco.
“The Rutledge will have an all-day-cafe vibe,” she says, “so we want people to stay and eat throughout the day.”
The breakfast menu will feature Dutch baby pancakes, quiches, bagel and biscuit sandwiches, baked goods and more, Breithaupt says, while lunch items will include burgers, grilled cheese and a reuben sandwich, among other things. The cafe will also feature snacks, incorporating cheese boards from 3Tails, as a sort of test kitchen for the retail concept next door.
The Rutledge will be filling the space formerly occupied by CounterspaceBR, a bakery that left White Star in March to focus on its new Perkins Road location.
