The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for all parishes of the Capital Region except Ascension and Livingston until 8 p.m. today. Hail to 1 1/2 inches in diameter, thunderstorm wind gusts to 70 mph and dangerous lightning is possible in the watch area, which includes parts of central and southern Louisiana, a small part of southwest Mississippi and parts of southeast Texas.
