Action! The organizers of a new film festival to be held April 18-21 in Baton Rouge and New Orleans have announced a call for entries. The Louisiana International Film Festival and Mentorship Program will accept submissions online through Jan. 7. Interested filmmakers can get all the details and make their submissions here.

Fire it up: Baton Rouge-based Albemarle Corp. says it will spend $65 million over the next five years to expand a manufacturing facility in Orangeburg, S.C. Albemarle says the expansion is needed to meet growing demand for a new line of fire safety products. Albemarle will go before the Orangeburg County Council for final approval on the work Dec. 17.

Pick up the phone: T-Mobile will likely start carrying the iPhone next year after its parent company, Deutsche Telekom, announced a new deal with Apple. T-Mobile USA had been the lone iPhone-less carrier among the four national wireless companies in the United States. Although it has been possible to use iPhones on T-Mobile networks, customers had to acquire the phones elsewhere. Complete details are available in the full story here.
