Baton Rouge-based King Crow Studios, a digital media company, has been selected for a $1 million contract from the U.S. Air Force for training and simulation applications, the Louisiana Technology Park announced Tuesday morning.

The software will give pilots a virtual reality-based training program to learn advanced combat tactics and proper safety procedures. The software was developed by King Crow Studios after building a similar application for ExxonMobil earlier this year.

“The fact that (the Air Force) has reached outside their typical pool of contract companies to find innovative approaches to their training procedures is really a testament to how far technology has come,” says Cody Louviere, founder and CEO of King Crow Studios.

King Crow Studios is one of six firms to land a $1 million contract from the Air Force’s Simulators Pitch Day in December. The event was orchestrated as part of the military branch’s efforts to contract with companies that previously haven’t worked with the government

King Crow Studios partnered with local firm Precision Procurement Solutions to make the pitches.

In August, the company, housed in the Louisiana Technology Park, won a $50,000 United States Air Force Phase I SBIR contract to design virtual reality prototypes for Air Force training.
