Gov. Bobby Jindal will be the first featured speaker to take to the podium at the New Hampshire Republican Party’s “first-in-the-nation” leadership summit in April, state party chairwoman Jennifer Horn confirms to the New Hampshire Union Leader.
Thought the full list of featured speakers and event details have yet to be announced, several prospective presidential hopefuls are expected to speak at the Republican Leadership Summit on April 17 and 18 in Nashua. Jindal is scheduled to speak on April 18, Horn says.
“Gov. Jindal’s participation in this important event underscores his commitment to New Hampshire and the important role that our state plays in selecting our nominee,” Horn says. “We look forward to announcing more speakers in the near future.”
For Jindal, it’s yet another out-of-state appearance in a key primary state. The governor, who has said he will announce early this year a decision on whether or not he’ll run for president in 2016, spent several days in Iowa early last month. He also took what was billed as a trade mission to England in January, but he ended up receiving more attention for comments he made in London about so-called “no-go zones” for non-Muslims in England. Jindal also made visits to Iowa and New Hampshire last year, among other out-of-state trips.
