An 11.5-acre industrial site between Choctaw Drive and Chippewa Street has been sold for $1.8 million. AK Marchand bought the site across the street from Exxon in a deal that closed last week, says Louis Barcelona Jr. of Triangle Realty Company, who was the selling agent. Keith Marchand of Marchand Machinery, the new owner, says he plans to continue leasing out the 180,000-square-foot facility. Marchand will occupy about 40,000 square feet. “I bought the property to establish a locomotive shop,” he says. The shop will repair locomotive engines that Marchand leases out to chemical plants and will create five to 10 new jobs.—Timothy Boone
