A new “Baton Rouge style” commercial retail center is nearing completion on the west side in Port Allen. Attorney Tony Clayton is developing the 10,080-square-foot strip center, which is located at 3857 La. Highway 1 South, and will be home to the west side’s first CC’s Coffee House, among other retailers.
The strip center will be known as The Villages at Huns Grove and is named for Clayton’s mother, whose nickname was Hun. Clayton believes there is demand on the west side for the higher-end retailers he hopes the strip center will attract.
So far, the CC’s, which Clayton also owns as a franchisee, is the only signed tenant. But a boutique, restaurant and medical use tenant have all signed letters of intent to lease space, according to Justin Langlois of Sperry Van Ness I Graham, Langlois & Legendre Commercial Real Estate Advisors, who is handling leasing at the center.
“(Clayton) wants something there that you would find in Baton Rouge,” Langlois says. “If you have a lady who wants to go to pilates or go shopping in a nice boutique, there is no reason she should have to cross that bridge. Based on the numbers we see over here, there is definitely demand for what he is building.”
The Villages at Huns Grove is scheduled to be complete this fall. Currently, one 1,680-square-foot unit is available for lease. To see renderings, click here.
