PetSuites of America joins Baton Rouge’s expanding pet boarding market

PetSuites of America, a franchise with 14 locations in six states, has broken ground on a 14,000-square-foot animal daycare and grooming facility at 8200 Perkins Road near Southside Produce.

Construction on the corporate-owned location, which also will feature 7,000 feet of outdoor yard space and two pools, is expected to wrap in mid-2018. The property was purchased in November.

PetSuites of America bills itself as an animal resort chain focused on socialization and play. Each location offers varied daycare options with activities tailored to fit a dog or cat’s individual needs or personality.

The chain joins a growing list of pet daycares and boarders opening in Baton Rouge. A Dogtopia franchise has moved into Towne Center. Canine Social—an upscale daycare, boarding, spa, training facility, and boutique—is expected to open in Highland Park Marketplace next summer.

Meanwhile, Camp Bow Wow—a Colorado-based dog daycare that first opened in Baton Rouge in 2013—has a new location under works in Prairieville. And Petz Plaza announced in October that it’s expanding its existing Perkins Road location to offer dog daycare services.
