The Shaw Group’s Jim Bernhard has been featured in an article about CEO pay in today’s Wall Street Journal. Bernhard amassed $642,500 in personal air travel expenses last year, according to Journal, at a time when CEO travel became a major issue. Shaw officials declined to comment to the newspaper about Bernhard’s travels. The newspaper notes that Bernhard’s bonus was cut back by nearly 88%, to $264,0000, after Shaw failed to meet certain financial targets and the longtime CEO turned down the discretionary portion. But Shaw boosted Bernhard’s equity grant for the current fiscal year by about $2 million, to $6.7 million. The Journal says Bernhard has about $17 million in shares and vested Shaw options and $18 million in deferred compensation. Read the story here. (Registration required)
