Work set to begin on The Grove in May

A groundbreaking is to be held in May for The Grove, a high-density, mixed-use development at Mall of Louisiana Boulevard and Interstate 10. Developer Richard Carmouche says he has purchase agreements for two sites. One will be taken up by a 200-unit apartment building that will also include 30,000 square feet of retail space on the bottom floor. A hotel will occupy the other site; Carmouche would not disclose the hotel operator. “This is right in the heart of the development,” he says. The development will be built around an oak grove, referred to in its name. Work will also begin on a road between the Rave theater and the Mall of Louisiana power center, which will lead to the Grove property. “We’re going to redefine and restructure that road, which is more of a parking lot now,” Carmouche says. —Timothy Boone
