Tropical Storm Arlene, the first named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, made landfall this morning on the east-central Mexico coast near Cabo Rojo, according to the National Hurricane Center. At 10 a.m., the center of Arlene was located 45 miles south-southeast of Tampico. Maximum sustained winds were 65 mph, and the storm was moving toward the west near 7 mph. A west to west-southwest motion was forecast to continue as Arlene moved inland and steadily weakened.
