Stine Lumber officially opens its new store Friday in Walker. This is the Southwest Louisiana company’s 11th store and sixth along the corridor. The $10 million home improvement store with a drive-through lumber yard at 29200 Walker South Road is 130,000 square feet and carries 32,000 items, from screws and bolts to garden plants. Marketing and Merchandising Vice President David Stine says the store actually opened its doors for business a week ago, and had 1,000 sales on its first Saturday without any advertising. Look for Stine to open its biggest store yet this summer in Broussard. That store is nearly twice the size of the one in Walker and cost $12 million to build. Both were made possible with Go Zone financing. The grand opening in Walker is scheduled for 10 a.m.
