Susan Stanford, who filed for divorce from her husband, R. Allen Stanford, in late 2007, filed a petition with the court last week to claim 50% of her estranged husband’s assets, according to a report by Reuters. The Feb. 17 freeze on all Stanford companies and Stanford’s personal assets put a hold on their divorce proceedings. The filing, which calls for her to obtain “exclusive use and control” of several luxury vehicles, Caribbean property, a yacht, jets and a home in an upscale Houston neighborhood, comes in stark contrast to efforts by Stanford receiver Ralph Janvey. The filing said, “Susan Stanford has a right to protect her property and get on with her life.” See the full article from Reuters here.—Olivia Watkins
