Game time: The LSU Tigers are 18-1 against the Mississippi State Bulldogs since the Southeastern Conference expanded to 12 teams in 1992, with their lone loss occurring in 1999. To break the Tigers’ winning streak, Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen says, the Bulldogs will have to play as close to flawless football as possible. “We have to follow the plan to win,” Mullen says. “We have to take care of the football, play great defense, score in the red zone and win the kicking game. Whether we’ve beat them 50 straight years or lost 50 straight years, if you follow that plan, you’re going to win; and if we do that, we will win, and if we don’t, we won’t.” Read Mullen’s full assessment of the game in the Starkville Daily News here. Kickoff between the No. 3 Tigers and No. 25 Bulldogs is 7 p.m.

Thirsty for a Thursday match: LSU Coach Les Miles says he’d like the Tigers to have a home Thursday game at some point, but doesn’t envision it would be possible without the campus shutting down classes for a few days. “I think the right Thursday night game here would be great. I’ve envisioned it for some time to be honest,” Miles said in his pre-game press conference Monday. “The issues become that our fan base can be there. What would need to happen on this campus is really not have school on both Thursday and Friday. I personally would enjoy it on our schedule, but I don’t think this school can give up two teaching days.” Read Miles’ complete pre-game comments here.

Big-time pressure(wash): The New Orleans Saints are spending about $90,000 to clear the Superdome’s 10-acre roof of mold in preparation for their home opener against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
