Ready to dance: Donnie Tyndall, a former LSU assistant basketball coach, has led Morehead (Ky.) State to its first trip to the NCAA Tournament in 25 years. Tyndall, who coached under John Brady from 1997-2001, has been with the Eagles since 2006, when the team was coming off a 9-23 season. The team qualified for the Big Dance by dramatically beating Austin Peay in double overtime to win the Ohio Valley Conference tournament. For a profile of Morehead State, click here.

State won’t get stung: The New Orleans Hornets’ attendance and overall revenues have been strong enough to eliminate the need for financial inducements from Louisiana this year. Hornets President Hugh Weber says the New Orleans Arena has been filling to about 99% capacity so far this season in terms of tickets sold or complimentary tickets used. The Hornets’ season-ticket base is just short of 11,000, a franchise high since moving to New Orleans from Charlotte in 2002. The club has sold out 14 games, one more that all of the previous regular season. The team still has nine home games remaining and is on track to make the playoffs for a second straight season.
