A Baton Rouge real estate broker is bucking the trend of brokers opening local real estate offices associated with larger national brokerages and instead is opting to build his own company from the ground up.

Mathew Laborde, formerly of Beau Box Commercial Real Estate, has opened Elifin Realty, a real estate brokerage specializing in serving financial institutions such as banks and credit unions as well as some VIP clients.

Laborde’s new company is currently operating out of a temporary location and will move into its permanent home at 2600 Government St. in Mid City within the next week.

Laborde says the Elifin model focuses on being an expert in the representation of financial institutions, particularly in regards to branch and facility needs and for residential and commercial foreclosures.

Laborde, a commercial real estate broker, says he opened Elifin to cater to a niche market—one that’s constantly evolving due to new regulations, technological advances, acquisitions or personnel changes.

“The ever-evolving nature of financial institutions lends itself to the constant need for real estate services,” says Laborde, adding that he feels financial institutions have typically been underserved in the current market.

Laborde tells Daily Report that he wants Elifin to be regarded as an expert in its field and to provide a high level of service that can help financial institutions grow more efficiently.

The company aims to be proactive, thorough, accountable to clients and purposeful in the business it accepts and the clients it targets, he says.

And though a Baton Rouge-based company, Elifin will serve the entire state, he says.

Laborde’s future growth plans include expanding to other states and growing the services the company provides to financial institutions.
