The Black Alliance for Educational Options announced today that Eric B. Lewis, co-founder and managing partner of Sable International and Baton Rouge Black Chamber of Commerce Board president, has been hired as the new state director for Louisiana BAEO. Lewis replaces Monteic Sizer, who resigned his position in order to run for mayor of Baker. BAEO is a national nonprofit, membership organization founded in 2000. As state director, Lewis will be charged with leading the BAEO Louisiana ground team’s efforts to expand parental choice options and expand the organization brand across the state. He will report to BAEO National Advocacy Director Shree’ Medlock. Lewis is a Baton Rouge native with degrees from Southern University and LSU, and he also serves on the Louisiana Technology Park board of directors, the Dean’s Advisory Council for LSU’s E.J. Ourso College of Business and the Delta College Advisory Board. “We wish Monteic the best of luck as he makes an effort to apply his professional policy experience in a different capacity. At the same time, we are incredibly excited about the opportunity to have a community leader with Eric’s broad range of experience leading our efforts in Louisiana,” says Medlock in a prepared statement. “Louisiana remains in the national spotlight for the advances that have been made in expanding options for students and families. That being said, we believe there remains much more work to be done.”
