The Shaw Group is set to announce quarterly earnings results this afternoon after the markets close. Jeff Opdyke, a Baton Rouge-based reporter for the Wall Street Journal, says investors will be watching to see if Shaw puts the any of three proposed U.S. nuclear power projects in its backlog. Shaw has contracts to build nuclear plants in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. Analysts say the projects could add $4 billion to Shaw’s backlog of $14.8 billion. But they’re watching to see if the recession has put plans to build the plants on hold, Opdyke says.
