The Shaw Group has been awarded a $500 million contract to build a generator at Entergy Louisiana’s Ninemile Point plant in Westwego. The contract calls for Shaw to provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the 550-megawatt generator. Plans are for the natural gas-fueled plant to be operational by mid-2015. The Louisiana Public Service Commission is reviewing plans for the new generator, which Entergy says will provide power for metro New Orleans and replace two 1950s-era generators. Shaw says the contract extends a business relationship it has had with Entergy for nearly 40 years.
