In an example of the law of unintended consequences at work, some customers have stopped patronizing the Kean’s Fine Dry Cleaning location at 8967 Jefferson Hwy. near Interstate 12 since a large “for sale” sign went up in front of the property last month.
Kean’s owner “Rock” Rockenbaugh says he wants customers to know the store hasn’t sold and isn’t closing any time soon, if ever. He says he hasn’t even decided for certain to sell the 33,600-square foot property, which includes a 3,900-square-foot building that Kean’s operates as a storefront and, until recently, also operated as a processing plant.
Rather, Rockenbaugh says, he is merely testing the waters in the market and will decide if he wants to sell if he gets an offer on the property. If he does eventually sell, Rockenbaugh says he would find another location in the Jefferson Highway-Drusilla area.
In the meantime, Rockenbaugh has asked broker Carmen Austin with Saurage Rotenberg to remove the “for sale” sign that has caused the confusion. The property remains listed on the Louisiana Commercial Database online.
