Lafayette businessman Ed Roy is dropping out of the race for a seat on the Louisiana Public Service Commission. A campaign spokesman confirmed this afternoon that Roy is quitting the race and says more information will be released on the decision later today. Still in the running for the PSC District 2 seat are Republicans Scott Angelle, Erich Ponti and Sarah Holliday; Democrat Forrest Wright; and Greg Gaubert, no party affiliation. On his campaign website, Roy is described as the owner of a forensic meteorology service that analyzes the impact of weather on the operations of corporate and institutional clients. The website also says Roy is the owner of a private investigation and data-mining business, and currently serves as president of the Louisiana Private Investigators Association. —Adam Pearson
