Red Door Interiors is relocating to Perkins Road after operating for 10 years in the Esplanade Shopping Center at 5224 Corporate Blvd.
The home decor and furniture store is moving to the Belle Maison Shopping Center at 13726 Perkins Road, which was previously occupied by Maison Victoria Antiques for more than 20 years. Red Door Interiors owner Erin DeBossier says her lease is up at the end of October and she wanted to move a high-growth area that would be a better fit for the home furnishings and accessories that her store sells.
“I wanted to be in the Bluebonnet-Siegen-Perkins area because there are so many homes that have been developed there in recent years,” she says. “It was a much more convenient location for most of my customers.”
At 12,000 square feet, the new Red Door Interiors location will be slightly smaller than the existing space, which is 16,000 square feet, but DeBossier says she is downsizing by design and that a lot of the space in the existing location is wasted.
“This will give us a much more intimate feel,” she says.
Maison Victoria Antiques officially closed last year, when longtime owners David and Susan Basu retired, but the store maintains inventory the Basus need to liquidate. The Basus, who also own the Belle Maison Shopping Center, will downsize to a smaller space in the development that will be open for special events and appointments while they liquidate their remaining inventory under the name Antiques Outlet. Once that is complete, DeBossier hopes to acquire the entire building from the Basus, she says.
Red Door Interiors will vacate its existing space the last week of October and plans to reopen on Perkins Road on Nov. 1. Mark Hebert of Kurz & Hebert Commercial Real Estate represented DeBossier in the lease negotiations. Michelle Fisher of Jerry Del Rio Real Estate represented the Basus.
