Safe at home: A new report says Baton Rouge and other metro areas in Louisiana are at “minimal” risk to have lower home prices at the end of 2010. That puts them in the safest category in the PMI Mortgage Insurance Economic and Real Estate Trends Report. The risk for Baton Rouge went up from a 2.5% chance of lower home prices in two years during the third quarter of 2008 to 8.4% during the fourth quarter, due to a small drop in home prices and a rise in unemployment.

LACAP plans move: The Louisiana Association of Community Action Partnerships has purchased a building on Industriplex Boulevard for $975,000 and plans to move its offices there. LACAP is an association of community action agencies from around the state that help the disadvantaged. The new location is 17,000 square feet, including 11,000 square feet that will be set up for training. That’s significantly bigger than the 1,500 square feet of office LACAP currently has at its location off Sherwood Forest Boulevard.

B.R., state buck national trend: Baton Rouge foreclosures fell 0.1% to 1.1 % in February compared to the same month last year, according to First American CoreLogic, a real estate analysis company. The Louisiana rate also fell 0.1% to 1.2% while the national rate rose 0.4% to 1.7%.
