Louisiana voters will have the opportunity to have their say on nine different proposals to amend the state’s constitution when they head to the polls on Nov. 6. The proposals address issues ranging from gun rights to property tax breaks. In his new column, Business Report Publisher Rolfe McCollister begins to unveil his endorsements in the forthcoming election, and he’s starting with these constitutional amendments. “Today in business, one must be fast and flexible to adapt—and government doesn’t do that. That’s why it is often a most inefficient and ineffective operation. More constitutional amendments don’t help that,” McCollister writes. “Nonetheless, there are some issues that must be handled in the constitution. This year, some of the amendments sound better than they are, and one is a statewide local option that will be decided parish by parish.” Of the nine proposed amendments, McCollister is supporting four of them. Find out which ones and get McCollister’s take on all of the proposed constitutional amendments in the full column here. Send your comments to editors@businessreport.com.
