Secretary of State Tom Schedler is predicting that just 45% to 50% of Louisiana’s 2.9 million registered voters will cast ballots in Saturday’s primary election. But with a new governor, new lieutenant governor and many other statewide leaders slated to take office, Business Report Publisher Rolfe McCollister is urging you to make it to the polls on Saturday.

“Don’t be among those apathetic citizens who complain but don’t speak up by voting,” McCollister writes. “If you have not voted early, go to the polls Saturday. Many have sacrificed so we can have that right and freedom to participate in democracy. Exercise your right.”

McCollister has made his endorsements on the candidates, the four constitutional amendments and the local tax renewals that are on the ballot. See the full slate of McCollister’s endorsements.

Polls open at 7 a.m. on Saturday and close at 8 p.m., but Schedler’s office says anyone that is in line to vote by 8 p.m. will be allowed to cast a vote. Sample ballots, information on polling locations and candidates in all of the races are available at the Secretary of State’s website.
