Baton Rouge’s only Krispy Kreme restaurant, located on Plank Road, shuttered Sunday night, with a sign posted Monday morning saying management was working on a “brand new shop.”

Krispy Kreme’s corporate office in recent months bought the Plank Road location, according to a Facebook post, but details on when are not clear.

The Plank Road location remains on the corporation’s website but calls to the business went unanswered. Calls to Krispy Kreme’s corporate communications team were also unanswered, but, in response to an email, the company said it would build a new shop at the location, slated to open this winter.

The Krispy Kreme location has been open in north Baton Rouge since 1960. A second location of the donut shop opened on Siegen Lane in 2003, but was shuttered in 2006.
