Newspapers: Miles could be a candidate at Michigan

LSU coach Les Miles is once again being mentioned as a candidate to take over the Michigan football program. Michigan officially fired Rich Rodriguez today. Tony Barnhart, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s “Mr. College Football,” says Michigan only has to do two things to land Miles: offer him $5 million a year to coach the Wolverines and say that legendary Coach Bo Schembechler “would want you to come home and get us back to the Rose Bowl.” Read the column here. Shawn Windsor of The Detroit Free Press says it is believed Miles would be willing to consider the Michigan job, because of his love for the university. “Miles could provide the school with familiar and, some might say, comforting roots again. Not to mention a championship pedigree,” Windsor says. Read the story here. Miles, who is getting the Tigers ready to take on Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl, told reporters at a press conference today he has had no contact with Michigan. “I’m really here to speak about no other school. I’m here to speak about LSU. Michigan will be fine. There will always be Michigan,” The Times-Picayune quoted him as saying.
