Executive has extensive auto experience: Startup automaker Next Autoworks Co. has appointed a chief financial officer with extensive experience in the auto industry. The San Diego–based company says James Donlon’s appointment is effective immediately. Most recently, Donlon was CFO at ArvinMeritor Inc., which manufactures motor vehicle systems and components. Prior to that, he served as Kmart Corp.’s CFO. From 1998 until 2003, he was senior vice president and controller for Chrysler Group at DaimlerChrysler Corp. He began his career in 1969 with Ford Motor Co. and moved to Chrysler in 1979. Next Autoworks is waiting for word on $321.1 million in startup federal loans. The company plans to build a fuel-efficient vehicle in Monroe, with hopes of eventually employing 1,400 people.
Not Broncos bound: Gregg Williams, the defensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints, has withdrawn his name from the Denver Broncos’ search for a head coach, according to The Times-Picayune. The newspaper says Williams had second thoughts about the interview. Williams, who has been with the Saints for two seasons, is reportedly happy in New Orleans and excited about the future of the team.
