Doubts expressed about plan: Secretary of State Tom Schedler says he and Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne have agreed to form a committee to look into merging museum systems in the state. Schedler says the committee would include officials of museums that are overseen by his office and by Dardenne’s. The main question, he says, is whether such a move would save money, and he expressed doubt that it would. Schedler took over as secretary of state after Dardenne was elected lieutenant governor. According to The (Monroe) News-Star, Schedler, a former state senator from Slidell, says he plans to officially run for the secretary of state position in the fall.
LSU standout headed to New York: Ryan Perrilloux, the troubled East St. John quarterback who was booted off the LSU football team in 2008, has signed a free-agent contract with the New York Giants. Perrilloux signed the contract after playing last season with the Hartford (Conn.) Colonials of the United Football League. Chris Palmer, a former Giants assistant who coaches Hartford, told The (Bergen, N.J.) Record that with some hard work and patience Perrilloux could be developed into a backup for Eli Manning. “He’s a very talented kid. He has a strong arm and reminds me of Tony Romo,” Palmer says, noting that Perrilloux “behaved himself and did what he was supposed to do” last year with the Colonials.
