News roundup: Rockit Science wins national advertising award … LSU IT chancellor headed to Maryland

Local ad agency honored: Rockit Science, a local advertising and public relations firm, won an Addy Award for a public service campaign it did for the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office. Rockit was honored for the “Meth Sucks” TV spots it did, showing the dangers of methamphetamines.

Had been at LSU for six years: Brian Voss, LSU’s first-ever vice chancellor for information technologies, is leaving for a similar job at the University of Maryland. Voss will take over as Maryland’s vice president of information technology and chief information officer in August. He has been at LSU for the past six years; prior to that, he spent nearly 20 years at the Indiana University. Voss gained national recognition for his work in IT disaster planning after hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.
