Policyholders get return 17th year running: LUBA Workers’ Comp returned $1.9 million to qualified policyholders statewide and nearly $460,000 to Baton Rouge area customers. This is the 17th consecutive year the workers’ comp agency paid a dividend to policyholders, based on safety performance. During that time, LUBA has paid out $32 million in dividends.
Lunch kicks off Peach Fest: Former President George W. Bush is scheduled to be in northeastern Louisiana today as the featured speaker of the annual Squire Creek Peach Festival Luncheon in Choudrant. The (Monroe) News-Star reported that trucking and energy magnate James Davison, whose family owns Squire Creek Golf Club, lured the two-term Republican president to today’s luncheon, which kicks off the annual Peach Festival in Lincoln Parish. The former president’s staff asked his appearance not be publicized. His name wasn’t listed on the tickets, which sold out within hours. The event is private and closed to the media.
