High marks: The LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center was honored in National Jurist magazine as the No. 8 Best Value Law School in the Country. “For many years, our Law Center has been ranked among the top 20 law schools in the best value rankings, and we are pleased that 2015 is no exception,” Interim Co-Dean Bill Corbett says in a prepared statement. No other Louisiana law schools, either public or private, were on the list. This is the second distinction the law school has recently received after being ranked as one of the top 10 underrated law schools in the country.
Freeing up money: Entergy Corp. has announced it will sell a Rhode Island natural gas-fired power plant to Washington, D.C.-based The Carlyle Group for $490 million. According to FuelFix.com, Entergy bought the 583-megawatt Rhode Island State Energy Center power plant in 2011 for $346 million and is selling it to free up some cash for other projects. Entergy is based out of New Orleans and powers many homes and businesses in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi. FuelFix.com has more.
Explosion injures four: A company says an explosion this morning at its natural gas facility in Gibson has left four workers injured. The Associated Press reports Williams Partners says an explosion and fire injured four contractors conducting maintenance at the Terrebonne Parish facility at the time of the explosion. The company could not confirm the severity of the injuries. Williams Partners says the facility is owned by a subsidiary, the Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Co. The company says the facility was shut down when the explosion erupted and that no gas was flowing through its pipeline system.
