Play ball! A limited number of LSU individual game baseball tickets will go on sale to the public on Tuesday. The first sale is a “Create Your Own 15-Game or More” package. Fans can select any 15 or more of the 37 home games to be played in Alex Box Stadium to customize their own ticket plan. There is a limit of eight tickets for all home games per account with the Create Your Own package. Remaining individual game tickets will go on sale Feb. 8 at 8 a.m. There is a limit of eight tickets for all conference games, the Cal State Fullerton series and the Tulane game. The Tigers start spring practice today; the team opens the season Feb. 18 at home against Wake Forest.
Louisiana-Texas group gets money: JPMorgan Chase & Co. is handing over $19 million to help small businesses in distressed neighborhoods. A $5 million grant will go to Accion Texas-Louisiana, a nonprofit lender that funds businesses throughout the two states. Accion Texas is headquartered in San Antonio, but its Louisiana offices are on Sherwood Forest Boulevard. President and CEO Janie Barrera says the group lends to individuals who cannot get financing through traditional banks. With average loans of $16,000, it helps their borrowers start small businesses and keep them growing. Barrera says Accion plans to use $4.5 million of their grant from Chase to fund new loans, and $500,000 to create a business incubator in San Antonio.
