It was up with Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Rhode Island, Wisconsin and Wyoming for not providing enough information on state contracting details and processes, according to the report from consumer activist Ralph Nader and the Center for the Study of Responsive Law. The report gave high marks to Illinois, Indiana, Montana, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Texas and Vermont for having the best state contract disclosure practices.
This one’s optimistic: An overwhelming majority of workers are not concerned about being laid off and think their company outlook will stay the same or improve in the next six months, according to a new survey. The Glassdoor.com survey of more than 1,500 people found that 74% have no layoff worries, but 44% are worried that co-workers could lose their jobs. Fifty-one percent say their company’s business outlook will remain the same, while 35% think it will get better and 14% are expecting it to get worse. Thirty-six percent of those polled expect to get raises or cost-of-living increases in the next six months.
