Any day now: The Louisiana Real Estate Appraisers Board will publish draft regulations this month to curtail what some mortgage lenders, property appraisers and state officials describe as abusive practices resulting from misguided federal consumer protection measures, New Orleans CityBusiness reports. It’s about time: The Louisiana Association of Business and Industry announced today its support of a proposed amendment to the Louisiana Constitution that would limit school board members to three consecutive four-year terms, beginning Jan. 1, 2014. All but two parishes—Jefferson and Lafayette—currently have no term limits, and the proposition will be on Tuesday’s ballot in every school district but those two. “School boards make decisions on academics that affect the lives of hundreds of thousands of students across the state,” says LABI President Dan Juneau in a prepared statement. “They determine how to spend $9 billion of tax dollars every year. We need to ensure that we have fresh ideas on local boards.”
Still firing: Former New Orleans Saints quarterback and popular radio personality Bobby Hebert is the subject of an extensive New York Times feature story revealing that “crazy Bobby Hebert is a history buff. His stepdaughter, Danni Perez, calls him Human Google. He really loves Bob Marley, even has a mural of the singer painted on the fence in his backyard. He watches chick flicks and each episode of The Real Housewives. He likes picnics and bicycle rides and romance and scuba diving and pirates. Man, does he love pirates,” the article says.
