Investing in the future: Baton Rouge-based GoAuto Insurance Co. is expanding its corporate headquarters after purchasing a second suite in the Highlandia Office Condominium at 533 Highlandia Drive. According to sale documents filed Monday morning, GoAuto paid $1.5 million to Superior Office Investments LLC, represented by David Woolridge Jr., for the 9,135-square-foot suite B office condo. The company purchased the 11,000-square-foot suite A in January 2015 for $1.8 million and moved from the Bon Carré Business Center on Florida Boulevard where it had been located since first opening more than six years ago.
Working together: The Louisiana Industrial Development Executives Association and Louisiana Economic Development have entered into a new cooperative endeavor agreement that outlines how the entities will work together to promote economic development in the state. The agreement provides for LED recognition, registrations to LIDEA’s fall conference and memberships in exchange for the state agency’s financial investment. It also includes details how LED will work with LIDEA to develop a cohesive legislative strategy and includes language about LIDEA reporting requirements on resources, activities and initiatives. The agreement was signed April 18, following the statewide Economic Development Summit.
Journalism excellence: Jerry Ceppos, dean of the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication, has been named a fellow of the Society of Professional Journalists, the society’s highest honor. The honor recognizes those who have made an extraordinary contribution to the profession of journalism, according to a news release. Ceppos began his career at the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle is the former dean of the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno. He also was vice president for news at Knight Ridder, owner of The Miami Herald and The Kansas City Star. Ceppos will receive his award at the society’s Excellence in Journalism conference in New Orleans in September. Previous recipients include Ben Bradlee, Bob Woodward, Walter Cronkite, Carl Bernstein, Edward R. Murrow and Katherine Graham.
