Two-time champion dies in car crash: LSU says funeral services for former LSU outfielder Terry Belle will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at Galilee Baptist Church in Shreveport. Belle, twin brother to former major league and LSU player Albert Belle, died Saturday in an automobile accident in Paradise Valley, Ariz. He was 45. The Shreveport native played at LSU from 1985-88, earning three letters and contributing to the success of the Tigers’ first two College World Series teams in 1986 and 1987. Albert Belle, played at LSU from 1985-87, earning all-America and all-SEC recognition. Albert Belle was a five-time American League All-Star with the Cleveland Indians (1993-96) and Chicago White Sox (1997).

Buddy takes his pitch to Tar Heel State: On the heels of last week’s release concerning campaign stops planned in Florida and New Hampshire, long-shot Republican presidential candidate and former Gov. Buddy Roemer announced today he’s also heading to North Carolina. After wrapping up several events Friday in New Hampshire, where he is temporarily living, Roemer will next head to North Carolina, to speak at events Tuesday in Raleigh and Charlotte.
