Former LSU star to discuss healthy eating: Glen “Big Baby” Davis, the former LSU basketball star, will visit the downtown Red Stick Farmers Market at 9 a.m. Saturday. His appearance there is part of Mayor Kip Holden’s Health BR Initiative, which aims to encourage healthier eating habits and the consumption of fresh, local goods. Davis and Holden will announce the winners of the Red Stick Farmers Market canning contest. Chef Celeste Gill will also be on hand to demonstrate healthy cooking practices and provide free samples to patrons. Free health screenings will be offered from 8 a.m. to noon: The screenings will include blood pressure, body mass index and body-fat percentage.

Will oversee Baton Rouge property: Pinnacle Entertainment, which is building a $357 million casino resort on River Road, has named Geno M. Iafrate senior vice president of Louisiana operations. Iafrate, currently the general manager of the L’Auberge Lake Charles casino, will oversee L’Auberge Baton Rouge, set to open in summer 2012. He’ll also oversee Pinnacle’s Boomtown New Orleans and Boomtown Bossier casinos.
