Give them credit: A new economic impact study on Louisiana’s credit unions by economist Loren Scott shows Baton Rouge is home to 22 of the state’s 199 credit unions, which collectively had more than 1.2 million members and total assets eclipsing $10 billion. Credit union membership in the state has grown 56% since 1991 and members’ savings volumes have tripled over that span. Credit unions in Louisiana support more than 3,600 jobs in the state, including 870 in the Baton Rouge area. Access the complete report.

Naming names: Eleven Baton Rouge area professionals have been named Excellence in Sales and Marketing Award winners for 2015 by the local Sales and Marketing Executives group. Winners are: Brian Ainsworth, Tony Arieux, Greg Boyd, Jay Campbell Jr., Barbara Clark, Kathi Gill, Mayor Kip Holden, Patrick Mulhearn, Richard White Jr., Ward Wyatt and Cheyenne Taylor-Hubbard. All award winners will be honored at a banquet on Nov. 12 at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel. The event is free for SME members, while tickets are $75 for guests and can be purchased online.

Sold!: The Louisiana Mineral and Energy Board says it sold a total of $96,492 worth of leases at its monthly sale held on Wednesday in Baton Rouge. Fiscal year to date, the total collected in bonus payments through the lease sales is $3.6 million. The fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. Last fiscal year, the board sold $14 million worth of leases and collected $432.9 million in royalties for the state. At this month’s lease sale, the board sold six leases covering 387 acres, with nominated tracts covering just over 40,385 acres in Lafourche, Plaquemines and Terrebonne parishes.
