More kudos: The Baton Rouge Area Convention & Visitors Bureau won a gold service award from Meeting & Conventions magazine. The award goes to convention and visitors bureaus that excel in service to meeting professionals. Criteria for the award include support to hotels, staff professionalism and assistance with ground transportation. Baton Rouge is one of 92 U.S. convention and visitors bureaus to get the award.

Will produce for Brazilian firm: Albemarle Corporation, a Baton Rouge-based chemical firm, has entered into a manufacturing agreement to supply base oils to Novvi, a Brazilian firm that makes high-end renewable synthetic oils. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Albemarle plans to produce the oils at its Orangeburg, S.C., plant. Under the terms of the agreement, Albemarle will serve as a custom scale-up and production partner for synthetic, renewable base oils for the lubricants market. Novvi will market synthetic renewable base oils produced at Albemarle to finished lubricant manufacturers globally.
