Baton Rouge Community College Chancellor Andrea Lewis Miller has been elected the 12th president of LeMoyne-Owen College, according to an announcement today from the Memphis-based school.
Miller will be the college’s first female president, the school says in a news release. Her start date is uncertain.
Miller earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from LeMoyne-Owen, according to her curriculum vitae.
Miller has held the BRCC post since 2012, when the Louisiana Community and Technical College System’s Board of Supervisors tapped her to replace Myrtle Dorsey, who led the Baton Rouge institution from 2002 to 2011 before moving to St. Louis Community College. Jim Horton served as interim chancellor until Miller’s departure.
Prior to coming to Baton Rouge, Miller served as chancellor at Sowela Technical Community College in Lake Charles between 2007 and 2012. She was honored recently as one of Business Report’s Influential Women in Business in Baton Rouge.
LeMoyne-Owen College has more details about Miller’s appointment. Miller could not be reached immediately for comment.
