Dingo’s, a new restaurant with Australian flair, opened two weeks ago in the old Semolina building on Coursey Boulevard. Owner Patrick Muller, a native of the West Coast of Australia, created casual dishes accessorized with mango salsa, wasabi ranch sauce and fig spread. The No. 1 menu seller: fish tacos. “The grilled fish is a huge hit,” Muller says. “When guests come in, they have something healthy.” Prices range from $5 to $13. The bar also has a dozen wine and beers unique to Australia. Inside, the décor has authentic Aboriginal artwork, stained glass windows from an old New England church and plenty of eye candy. Dingo’s is open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on Friday and Saturday until midnight.
In other dining news, Southern California dessert chain Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt is expected to open at the end of May inside the Mall of Louisiana. Perkins Rowe, a choice spot for patio dining, now hosts “Grand Afternoons” on Sundays through the end of May from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. And the scuttlebutt is that Stroube’s on Third Street is planning a late-night menu.
