Interviews will be held tomorrow to select the consulting team for pre-construction activities regarding the new Mississippi River bridge.

Following the Request for Qualifications process, which closed in August, DOTD narrowed the proposals to three engineering and consulting firms, says Jay Campbell, chairman of the five-parish Capital Area Road and Bridge District. The three firms will interview at DOTD headquarters Wednesday, with the final choice being made by DOTD Secretary Shawn Wilson.

The chosen firm is expected to work with a DOTD project manager to start the first stages of planning analyses required federally.

Campbell declined to name the three firms vying for the position.

Wilson was unable to be reached for more information before this morning’s deadline. Rodney Mallett, spokesman for DOTD, deferred comment on the matter to the Capital Area Road and Bridge District.

The district, formed in 2018, expects to narrow the possible locations for the new bridge early next year, WBRZ-TV reported in October. Over the summer, the district secured $5 million in state surplus dollars for the project.
