Miles, LSU agree in principle to 7-year deal

Coach Les Miles and LSU have agreed in principle on a seven-year contract at the same annual salary as his current deal, says Athletic Director Joe Alleva. Miles’ contract must be approved by the LSU Board of Supervisors. The new agreement will include enhanced opportunities for additional compensation for BCS and SEC championships and post-season accomplishments and would include no rollover provisions. Miles’ annual compensation will remain at $3.751 million per year. “We are pleased to reach an agreement that will keep Les Miles as the leader of our football program for many years to come,” Alleva says. Miles is 62-17 in six seasons at LSU, including 5-1 in bowl games, a record that includes the 2007 BCS national championship. “This is home to us,” Miles says. “My family really loves being in Louisiana and I love representing this great institution. Staying at LSU is the right thing to do. I wanted to stand by the commitment that I made to the team and to LSU, and that really overshadowed any other consideration.”
